Hampshire based firefighters Adam Bundle and Stu Vince have been exposed to situations many of us will be fortunate enough to never experience.
The daily stresses of life, dealing with life-threatening decisions and facing the loss of colleagues, have unfortunately contributed to issues with their mental health.
Having pushed through, but still witnessing an astonishing rise in mental health issues surrounding the workplace, they decided to be proactive and do something to help others overcome these difficulties.
In a bid to raise money and awareness on mental health issues in the workplace, tackling the stigma surrounding the topic and educating individuals in becoming mental health first aiders, Adam and Stu are preparing for the physically demanding challenge of rowing the Atlantic from the Canary Islands to Antigua in December of 2020.
Very few have completed this staggering feat, and the duo will be rowing 3,000 miles in 37 days, which will beat the pair race record that was set back in 2017.
The pair are aiming to raise £100,000 for the cause and thanks to their main sponsor, full-fibre broadband provider toob, they are edging ever closer to smashing their target!
Southampton’s new full-fibre broadband provider toob is very proud to support Adam and Stu in their challenge to raise £100,000 for Solent Mind and The Firefighters Charity by rowing the Atlantic next year.
Speaking with Nick Parbutt, CEO of toob: “I am delighted to support Adam and Stu on their epic challenge to row the Atlantic.
I can’t begin to imagine what they are going to have to endure to complete their journey, but I am sure the knowledge that they are raising money for two such worthy causes will spur them on. The rise in mental health issues in our society is something that concerns me greatly as a husband, as a parent and as a brother. It can affect anyone, no matter how strong or how successful, and the effects can be devastating on the sufferer and their friends and family.
I hope our sponsorship helps Adam and Stu reach their goal to support these two great charities.”
toob are investing £50 million to deploy a new full-fibre network delivering faster, more reliable broadband to the city of Southampton, and have already begun work deploying the network.
Residents will be able to order the full-fibre service and be connected within the coming weeks.
Keep an eye out for Adam and Stu, as they will be out and about throughout Hampshire over the coming months continually raising money ahead of their arduous journey.
